Projects for potential cooperation will be discussed in detail at Korean Investor’s Day due to be held in Vladivostok on March 5, Mayor Vitaly Verkeyenko said during the meeting with Republic of Korea’s Consul General in Vladivostok Lee Seok Bae on February 19.

Lee Seok Bae congratulated Vitaly Verkeyenko on assuming the office of Mayor of Vladivostok and noted that relations in various spheres between Korean cities and Vladivostok keep strengthening. This is proved by the fact that the number of tourists from South Korea visiting Vladivostok reached over 100 thousand in 2017, which is twice as many as in 2016. Several Korean investors and contractors have expressed their willingness to participate in implementation of Vladivostok development master plan. The government of the Republic of Korea has also been giving much attention to realization of the joint project launched by Gideon Co. and Transport Department of the City Administration and aimed at introduction of cash-free payment system in public buses in Vladivostok.

The Mayor said the Republic of Korea is one of Vladivostok’s most active partner regions.

“Last year we commemorated the 25th anniversary of establishment of sister-city relations with Busan. In honor of this event, various thematic projects were successfully held in our city. We also organize “Busan – Russian Far East” Economic Forum that proved to be very productive and has already become a regular event. For the year 2018, we have prepared an extensive schedule of joint activities. This exchange program will commence on March 5 with opening of a large-scale Korean Investor’s Day co-organized by the Ministry for Development of Russian Far East and the Government of Republic of Korea. With such a background, we expect Korean investors and businesses to participate in such projects as construction of Vladivostok Ring Road and fish market, reconstruction of Minny Gorodok park and Sportivnaya Naberezhnaya promenade, as well as cooperation in many other appealing projects,” Vitaly Verkeyenko said.
